A KMS / Covid update...
As many of you may know some of the instructors from KMScotland began running virtual classes pretty much at the start of the lockdown. It provides a valuable source of training and in-depth information on our syllabus, allowing us to train and study hard on the finer detail of techniques that benefit from repeated drilling - often disregarded in class. Every student of KM across the world knows ''dry drilling'' is part of the way we teach and the 'regulars' at the virtual classes I'm sure would agree that their fitness, strength and ability has certainly improved by their 'attendance' at these sessions - I shudder to think how much I would weigh now if I didn't attend them myself...! There is of course the benefit of interaction too and to share time with others outside your own immediate circle is both refreshing and fun.
A couple of weeks back - Brett our instructor for the Falkirk class - ran a fantastic online 'seminar' - introducing the group to different kinds of violence. Pens scratched rapidly across paper as many interesting facts were hastily scribbled down and although I have studied krav maga for some 16 years now I learned a huge amount about what predators look for in their intended victims. Detailed information like this improves our chances of avoiding trouble and is as important to know as physical defence techniques - indeed maybe even more so.... I am delighted to announce Brett will be running another 'seminar' along the same lines this week, I asked him to give me some info on it and his reply is below.
If you would like to attend simply join the virtual class page
[ link below], you will receive an invitation ten minutes before the session begins. There is no charge for these [ or any of the four weekly sessions] but a small donation helps with the broadband and zoom charges, again, completely optional.
There really is so much to be gained from joining and nothing at all to lose. 'Actual ' classes are a long way away so best we make the most of it, so hit the link and we'll see you soon.
'Stay safer' with KMScotland 🙂

Next Wednesday evening we are offering a special online class. This will be a theory based class and will not involve any physical exercise. The class will focus on Social Violence and will give students an understanding of the different types of social violence and some avoidance and de-escalation techniques associated with this type of violence.
Last week we carried out an interactive online class which focused on Asocial Violence which went really well and was thoroughly enjoyed by the students that took part online. During this Covid-19 pandemic we have to focus on new ways of learning and this seems the perfect time for us all to have a better understanding of why Violence happens in the first place and can aid you in any potential confrontations before things turn physical. If you are interested in attending this online class please contact on this forum to confirm your space.
If there is sufficient interest we may consider re-running the Asocial Violence class we carried out for those that were either unable to attend the last or were unaware that it was on. Please also drop us a message if you interested in attending the class on Asocial Violence.

KMS Virtual Training - update:
Things definitely starting to take shape. Sessions gaining popularity with 14 people taking part last time.
Feels a little strange at first but the benefits soon become VERY apparent, cardio improving, flexibility returning and after Mark or Mick's killer workouts I swear I feel stronger ! [ even if I cant get out of bed without sound effects the next morning....] PLUS - ' dry drilling ' the techniques improves understanding and self control, so it really is a win win !
If you're a bit nervous about starting, camera shyness can be overcome with a cloth over your camera and we also have 'break out' rooms so eventually we will be able to separate the class dependent on levels.
There are four classes a week [ Sun, Mon, Wed, Thurs ] - why don't you just get over any feelings of looking silly OR stop being lazy...realise this current mad situation is NOT going to stop anytime soon and jump onto a session or two.
Your body will appreciate it and insanity will be kept at bay a little while longer...
7pm on the nights mentioned above, come on folks, the couch will still be there at 8...

I had wanted to learn Krav Maga for a long time, after feeling that other martial arts did not provide as much real life self-defence as I was looking for. I joined the KMS class in Cowdenbeath a month ago, and it was an excellent decision!

Mick is a fantastic instructor that teaches diligently and encourages you. Other experienced members of the class are very helpful. This creates a welcoming environment for all and every session is great fun. The skills taught boost your confidence and self-awareness, which might be key to your survival some day!
